I am one of the Co-Head Prefects at NTS. I currently study Maths, Business Studies, Geography and General Studies at A Level. NTS Sixth Form has taught me how to be more independent in my studies as well as the importance of time management. My role as Co-Head Prefect has improved my ability to work as a team, which will be important for my future career. I have also had the opportunity to compete in an Accountancy Competition called BASE. Next year, I am starting an Advanced Apprenticeship in Accountancy at Dodd & Co. Accountants working towards becoming a Chartered Accountant.
I have just finished my A levels at NTS. Sixth form was a huge challenge to begin with because of the vast change from GCSEs, but the support from teachers and members of staff made it a pleasant experience and it has set me up for the future. I am currently completing a technical specialist trainee scheme through GEN2 and have secured employment with Amec.
I am currently in the Year 13 at NTS. I am studying Music, English Language, ICT and previously studied Geography at AS. One of the many things I have gained from being in the Sixth Form is confidence and maturity. Being a Sixth-Form student at NTS means that I have been given the ability to develop my personal and independent skills while enjoying every minute. In terms of next year I would like to study Music at university and then in the future achieve a degree in teaching so that I can become a Music teacher.
I am currently studying Chemistry at UCL. In the sixth form I learnt to be an independent learner, how to work to tight deadlines and how to take responsibility for my own education. I was expected to come with an open mind to every lesson and in return I received an excellent quality of teaching. My teachers were knowledgeable about their subjects and passed on a genuine enthusiasm. My involvement in the Crest Gold Award gave me real life experience of working as an industrial chemist and will help me in my study of chemistry at university.
I joined NTS Sixth Form in Year 12 from Beacon Hill, Aspatria. At A Level, I chose to study ICT, English Language, History and General Studies as well as gaining an AS qualification in Computing. I have found studying at NTS to be hugely beneficial due to the level of support I was given and the positive attitude to learning displayed by both students and staff. The Sixth Form team also prepared me well for higher education, providing all the relevant information and guidance I needed to for my future. I hope to go on to study New Media at the University of Leeds.
I currently study Mathematics, Business Studies, Sociology and ICT at A Level. Although the step up from GCSE to A Level was huge, the teachers supported me with the transition. They are always on hand to help and to ensure you get the grades needed for what you want to do after Sixth Form. Next year, I am planning to study Accounting and Finance at university.
At A-level I chose to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry. I have gained a lot from studying at NTS Sixth Form, benefiting greatly from the study areas available for students; I have become a more independent learner and have better organisational skills as a result. After Sixth Form, I intend to study Mechanical Engineering at a top university in order to become a Chartered Engineer.
I am approaching the end of my second year of an advanced apprenticeship in electrical engineering at Innovia Films in Wigton while studying towards an HNC in engineering maintenance at GEN2. Whilst at Nelson Thomlinson, I completed A levels in business studies, physics and mathematics, which have helped me with my work towards my HNC. NTS has strong links with Innovia and it was through these links that I found out about an apprenticeship at the company.
I am currently in Year 13 and study Maths, Computing and Physics. At NTS Sixth Form I have strengthened my organisational skills and learned how to keep on top of my work. All Sixth Form staff and teachers are extremely helpful, especially when it comes to applying for University and Apprenticeships. Also, I participated in the CREST Gold Award scheme and Young Enterprise programme giving me the opportunity to widen my knowledge and skills. NTS has a longstanding partnership with Innovia films where I hope to gain a Computing related apprenticeship.
I am in my first year at the Royal Academy of Music in London. I found the sixth form at NTS to be both enjoyable and challenging. The staff were supportive and we were treated very much like adults. During my time at NTS I completed my ABRSM diploma in singing and am working towards the next exam. The school allowed me time to work on these exams while ensuring I am still on task in my other subjects. In my final year, I played Jean Val Jean in the NTS production of Les Miserables. For me personally, NTS has been a great school.
