Guidance on face coverings for parents/carers and pupils

With the delta variant of coronavirus on the rise and increasing concern about the spread amongst the younger generation and the potential impact on members of the wider community, it is with some regret that I feel obliged to take the following action:

  1. Face coverings will be encouraged from Thursday 17th June in all indoor communal areas (school transport, corridors, common rooms, staff rooms etc.).
  2. Face coverings will then be mandatory from Monday 21st June in all indoor communal areas (school transport, corridors, common rooms, staff rooms etc.).

This two-stage directive enables those who may have mislaid their face covering to acquire one before Monday.

Please note that, once seated in a classroom, pupils may remove their face covering, although we will continue to review our position in line with governmental guidelines. Teachers may continue to teach without a face covering should they feel comfortable doing so.

All other protective measures such as ventilation and social distancing where possible will remain in place and regular rapid home testing will continue to be recommended.

Kind regards

Mr Northwood
