Lateral Flow Testing – September 2021
The Government has informed schools that ALL pupils (except the new Year 7s) must be tested (using lateral flow tests) AT HOME, on the night before they return to school. Hopefully, you still have enough test kits, but if you have run out, spare test kits can be collected from school on Tuesday 31 August (between 10am and 12) and Wednesday 1 September (between 9am and 3pm). Alternatively, all local chemists have a supply. If your child does test positive, please inform school ASAP and follow the government’s isolation guidelines.
All pupils with consent will also lateral flow test on their first day back in school and then again on Thursday 9 September, supervised by NTS staff. We will refer to previous consent forms to determine which children are to be tested. Consent forms for new Year 7s and all those for whom we do not already hold consent have been sent via ParentMail in a separate message. Sixth-form students can give their own consent as they are aged 16 or over.
Pupils who have tested positive via a PCR test within the last 90 days should not be tested. We will be prompting all pupils before the testing commences to tell us if this is the case.
If on the day of testing any pupil does not wish to take part, then they will not be made to do so and consent can be withdrawn by parents at any time ahead of the test.
All pupils/students should bring a face mask to school and will be encouraged to wear this until the testing is done. Face masks must be worn on school transport.
LFT will continue at home after the testing has finished in school. Tests will be given out to pupils shortly.
If you have any questions, please contact school.
Many thanks for your continued support.
