School Transport
During the winter months please ensure your child dresses according to the weather conditions. Some of our pupils wait for their school bus in exposed areas so it is imperative that they dress for the weather. Also, because of the spate of road works in the region, possible bad weather, there may be instances when school transport is delayed. I will put messages out via ParentMail of any notifications I receive but please remind pupils that they must remain at their boarding point as the bus will turn up.
Catchment Information
If you live outside the catchment area for Nelson Thomlinson School, parents/carers are responsible for their child’s transport arrangements. The Council operates a Spare Seat Scheme to assist parents/carers, which involves making available, at a charge, spare capacity on vehicles contracted to take children entitled to free transport to and from school. The current cost for 23/24 is £504.30 per year, payable in three termly instalments of £199, £187 and £118.30. It should be noted that the position regarding the availability of spare seats will not be known until after the start of the academic year and it must be stressed that, until you are advised by Cumbria County Council that a seat is available, you must make appropriate arrangements to get your child to school.
