PART-TIME ADMIN ASSISTANT

(BUSINESS STUDIES/PSYCHOLOGY DEPT)
BS4 – £19,312 per annum (pay rise pending), pro rata (20 hours a week over 5 days), term time only plus 5 days

Required as soon as possible, a suitably qualified and experienced administrator to support our Business Studies/Psychology Department.  The successful candidate will be motivated, organised and thorough. The ability to work independently using your own initiative is essential, as is an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.  Experience of SIMS would be an advantage but training will be given.

 

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Photocopying
  • Filing (digitally & paper based)
  • Data entry to SIMS and Excel spreadsheets
  • Typing of any word/other documents as required
  • Preparation of resources as required
  • Digital scanning of documents
  • Laminating & binding documents
  • Uploading digital resources to our educational platforms
  • Maintaining wall displays
  • Any general admin required

Business Studies Admin Assistant – Job Specification

 

SCIENCE TECHNICIAN

PCD3 – £18,933 per annum, pro rata (pay rise pending)
37 hours per week, term time only (+ 10 days)

 

Required as soon as possible, an experienced Science Technician. Our technical team play a vital role in maintaining our success and we are seeking to appoint a Science Technician to further strengthen the quality of technical support.

Science Technician – Job Specification

Job Profile

 

PART-TIME TEACHER OF SCIENCE

Permanent, MPS/UPS
Part time (either 0.4 FTE or 0.6 FTE as part of an informal job share – hours guaranteed to be on 2 or 3 full days)

 

Required for September 2022, a well-qualified, outstanding classroom teacher to join our highly successful 11-18 Science Department. Candidates should be imaginative and capable of introducing fresh ideas whilst maintaining a clear focus on successful examination outcomes. We offer opportunities to teach across the ability range in KS3 and KS4.

Whilst applications from candidates with a specialism in any of the Science subjects is welcome, a Physics specialist with experience of teaching Physics up to KS5 would be preferred.

The Science Department at The Nelson Thomlinson School is the largest department in this outstanding school. The school prides itself on the quality of education it provides for pupils of all ages and abilities, with the Sciences enjoying strong uptake at A level as a result of excellent outcomes at GCSE in both Triple and Combined Science.

Science Department Description

 

MIDDAY SUPERVISORS

6.25 hours per week (12.20 – 1.35pm daily) term time only
PCD3 £9.62 – £9.81 per hour

 

Midday Supervisors required to work with our team ensuring our pupils are safe over the lunchtime break.  Supervisors rotate through the areas of school and some outside duties are included.

HEAD OF COMPUTING

Permanent, MPS/UPS + TLR 2 (£4,790)

 

Required for September 2022, a clever, organised, well-qualified teacher of KS3, GCSE and A-level Computer Science ready to lead and further develop an established department into the next decade. You will have excellent subject knowledge and will have experience of teaching at all Key Stages with expertise in delivering outstanding results.

 

Computing at The Nelson Thomlinson School is a successful department and we are fiercely proud of our status. The acid tests are that we achieve high ALPS scores with our A-Level students, we have sent students to Oxford, Cambridge and many other high calibre universities to study Computer Science and our alumni regularly report that their A-Level experience was an excellent preparation for undergraduate study. We need a replacement for the retiring Head of Department to continue this work.

 

The Nelson Thomlinson School was judged “outstanding” under the new Ofsted framework in 2013; our Sixth Form was described as “first class” and the behaviour of our pupils ‘impeccable’.  The Computing Department consistently achieves higher grades than those of similar centres, and there is a strong focus on in-house professional development and ‘supported accountability’.
